Real Gunfighter

I just decided not to be a victim. [More]
I said before I had the pleasure of meeting this man several years ago. A correspondent sent me this video clip.

If it were up to the Brady's, this segment would never have been made.

Another Child Gun Death

A Roxbury gang member shot to death 13-year-old Steven Odom in Dorchester nearly two years ago, as the minister's son was walking home with friends - and was then himself killed in an unrelated shooting 10 days later, authorities said at a press conference yesterday.

Charles Bunch Jr., who was 18, was identified as the man who pulled the trigger on the gun used to shoot Odom in a case of mistaken identity that killed the middle-schooler on Oct. 4, 2007, law enforcement officials said. Odom was shot in the head as he approached his home on Evans Street while walking with two friends.

Officials also announced the arrest and a six-count indictment against David Johnson, 18, of Mattapan, whom authorities allege provided the gun to Bunch. [More]
Wait a second--I thought you had to be 21 in third-ranked MA...?

You mean all those hoops they make "law-abiding citizens" jump through are useless--infringements on their rights that do nothing to stop the reptiles of the world?

Wedding Crashers

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s glam Costa Rican wedding was marred by gunfire last night when security guards hired to keep paparazzi away fired at two photographers as they fled the scene with their film. No one was hurt. [More]
I'm sorry--does anyone remember ever seeing anything from either of these two using their enormous wealth and reach to champion the right of the people to keep and bear arms?

Funny--I don't see where the guards were arrested or anything, either... and I wonder if The Boston Herald will issue an editorial decrying armed celebrity bodyguards...?

US Attorney Still Blaming Private Guns for Mexican Crime

This archive will go away in a few days, so download and listen now. Select "5 p.m. - 6 p.m." [More]

At 37 minutes in, hear U.S. Attorney Joseph Russoniello claim, when challenged by a caller about the "90%" lie, that if guns are being imported into Mexico from Guatemala they are probably being trans-shipped from the United States.

You got that, right? So apparently, after "straw purchasing" at gun shops and "damned American gun shows," rather than run them across the border, they evidently ship them to Guatemala and bring them into Mexico that way? No wonder "Operation Southbound Steel" is such a bust!

And then, right after admitting he doesn't "know," Pal Joey opines he "would not be surprised" if 20 million of the 250 million guns going to Mexico from the US come from residential burglaries.

My favorite is his response to the question asking if he keeps statistics on how many crimes are prevented or stopped because of a private gun:
No.
It would hardly advance his agenda if they did, would it?

UPDATE: Comrade Joe's a "republican".

Revised Free Speech Guidelines, Part III

Still waiting for change you can believe in? Well, believe this: the White House just declared an intellectual property treaty a state secret and denied Freedom of Information Act requests asking that it reveal the details of an international treaty that could have huge effects on how information is disseminated online. Revised Free Speech Guidelines, Part II

The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 introduced in the Senate would allow the president to shut down private Internet networks. The legislation also calls for the government to have the authority to demand security data from private networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule or policy restricting such access. Phil Mendelson's Right to Lie

It would be harder to arrest chronic criminals, because police would no longer be able to charge them with possessing unregistered weapons.[More]
All this, plus we find out in DC there's a "right of individuals to be protected by the police..."

Hey, a councilman said it so it must be true, right?

Good grief, with this creature in charge of the Committee on Public Safety, no wonder they're so incompetent at achieving that end.

Interesting choice for a name, though, isn't it?

WaPo editorial standards. Is there any depth they won't sink to?

Revised Free Speech Guidelines

Revised guidelines on endorsements and testimonials by the Federal Trade Commission, now under review and expected to be adopted, would hold companies liable for untruthful statements made by bloggers and users of social networking sites who receive samples of their products. [More]
No doubt another enumerated power.

So say if a gun blogger wins a weekend at a shooting facility and has things like "firearms, ammunition, accessories, room and board during the event... provided by the sponsors," and their report get challenged by their political enemies...

Nah, it could never happen.

Could it?

Say, did I mention this cool patch?

It not only attracts amorous super models and cures cancer, but if you wear it, you can jump off a bridge into a lion pit and emerge unscathed. Oh, and if you buy one, seven days later you'll receive a billion dollars. But only if you act now.

The Reasonable and Pragmatic Wing of the GOP...

...will eventually win back their party from right-wing whack jobs...[More]
See, you can't be a "conservative"--even a media-designated one. You have to be a democrat who calls yourself a republican. That's the only way "we" can win.

And to think the antis complained about Mary McFate. Principle-devoid morons and fifth columnists in the GOP are bound and determined to make it absolutely irrelevant on the national scene.

Funny how few are pointing out this is exactly the same recommended course of action democrat operatives are making--no doubt in the spirit of bipartisanship, and to be helpful.

We're the Only Ones Sensitive to Criticism Enough

Perhaps the best publicity a critic of the powers-that-be can ever get for his cause is to be the target of over-the-top official retaliation. That automatically validates what the critic is saying while at the same time massively expanding the audience for his message. So, in an odd way, Jeff Pataky owes a "thank you" to the Phoenix Police Department for raiding his home and hauling away computers and other material related to a Website and blog he maintains that focus attention on misdeeds involving the Phoenix PD.[More]
A few of you have sent me links to other sources for this story, to include it in the "Only Ones" Files. I like the way J.D. Tuccille tells it.

Who is Spreading Fear, Hatred and Lies in Pittsburgh Shooter Story?

It's called projection. Shall we explore the sentiments coming from those who make no secret that they hate gun owners and believe in government monopoly of power? What do popular lefties have to say? [More]
Unsurprisingly, they hate us. If they could, they'd use the force of the state to kill us. And they'll tell whatever lies it takes to usher in that day.

Today's Gun Rights Examiner column shows one more way the political left demonstrates themselves to be base enemies of Liberty. It also links you to the latest commentary from my fellow GREs.

Please tell a friend, particularly any who may not understand how these characters operate.

This Day in History: April 6

You have had many Rumours, propagated among you, which I suppose you know not how to account for. One was, that Congress, the last Summer, had tied the Hands of General Washington, and would not let him fight, particularly on the White Plains. This Report was totally groundless. -- Another was, that at last Congress untied the General, and then he instantly fought and conquered at Trenton. This also was without foundation, for as his Hands were never tied, so they were. not untied. [More]
