Fellow patrons had their cellphones temporarily confiscated to prevent pictures from being taken. [More]
The nerve of these people.

I'd have refused and dealt with the consequences. Seriously. There's no way I would consent to this.

UPDATE: Some have reported problems accessing this. It still works for me, but for those of you who can't make the link work, here's a screen shot with red underscoring added by me:

Some Questions for Danny Tarkanian on Guns

The Mason-Dixon Polling and Research survey, reported Sunday in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, showed GOP candidate Danny Tarkanian leading Sen. Harry Reid by 49 percent to 38 percent. [More]
As far as Harry Reid goes, the NRA is significantly more impressed with him than GOA is. The reality is, NRA is probably not going to give up their relationship with the majority leader over a challenger.

Which means if Danny Tarkanian wants to impress gun-owning Nevada voters, he's got some 'splainin to do--which he evidently hasn't so far...

Now's your chance, Mr. Tarkanian.

Will you answer a few questions?

Will you give gun owners a reason to look to you for leadership?

This looks like the perfect campaign to force this issue. It's not like the anti-gunners have a lock on Nevada. So he can't harm himself by being unequivocal and strong.

I'm sending this to Mr. Tarkanian via email. Whether he responds or declines, you'll know about it.

UPDATE: He passed with flying colors.

We're the Only Ones Hierarchical Enough

A retired Lorain police sergeant has said that when he was on the force, his fellow officers engaged in “nonconsensual sexual misconduct” with members of the public while they were on duty and weren’t meaningfully disciplined for it, according to court documents filed Wednesday. [More]
Nonconsensual sexual misconduct”?

Is that "Only One" code-speak for "rape"?

Well, yeah, I understand why there was no "meaningful discipline," seeing as how the immediate response that a rape attempt deserves would deplete the force of so many "bad apples" there apparently wouldn't be that many left in the barrel...

We're the Only Ones Selling It, Loving It Enough

A St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputy booked with malfeasance in office was fired Friday afternoon after he was caught selling Sheriff's Office property on eBay, Sheriff Wayne L. Jones said. [More]

Some TN Permit Holders are Now Felons

The effect of the new law is that now even non-violent felons are prohibited from possessing any firearms and also from buying firearms (TCA 39-17-1316) and also from having a handgun carry permit (TCA 39-17-1351) even if they have previously had their full rights of citizenship restored by a Tennessee court. They cannot hunt with a firearm. They cannot have a firearm in their home for self-defense. They cannot work as an armed guard. They cannot work in an armed law enforcement position.

They are unindicted felons instantly on July 1, 2008 whose names are in many state databases as firearms owners. [More]
How did this happen?
Apparently, the current NRAILA lobbyist chooses not to consult me or to my knowledge any other practicing Tennessee attorney with experience in these areas.
Well, perhaps "the current NRAILA lobbyist" has superior credentials...? I'd think working for the Council on Foreign Relations would count for something...

Gun Registration is NOT Constitutional

Where I can and do disagree is with any representation that the Founders would have considered mandatory gun registration constitutional. These were the people who wrote "shall not be infringed" into the Second Amendment, and they did not delegate to government any power over gun ownership. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column disagrees with some "reluctant... 'pro-gun scholars and advocates'" who, for reasons of their own, feel compelled to make unwarranted public concessions to the enemy.
