Fostering Defenselessness

... IDCFS policy substantially prohibits foster parents, and those who would like to be foster parents, from possessing firearms for the purpose of self-defense. This violates their constitutional rights under the Second Amendment. [More]
In other words "The Fosters" need to reflect "Disney/ABC Family Values" (although on that show, one of the two mommies is a highly-trained and trustworthy "Only Ones," so her having a gun is OK then).

My inclination would to tell ICDFS to foster parent their own damn children if they want to squeeze into the requirements their own anti-Second Amendment agenda. Where do they get off taking away constitutional rights with their little requirements? What's next, no registered Republicans?

Oregon DCS didn't disallow firearms ownership for foster parents. They just required "safe storage" (similar to what they require for prescription drugs) and strongly discouraged it.

The latter was not an "official" dept policy, but as every single certifier espoused the same opinion (nearly verbatim) I wonder if there was something in the water and/or passed around "unofficially".
