Mocking New Yorker Piece Fails to Mask ‘Home Rule’ Double Standard

It might infuriate if anyone outside of Andy’s smug metrosexual echo chamber cared what he says. And while it’s not hard to find things to laugh about as far as Trump, or Cruz, or especially panicky RNC dinosaurs are concerned, Borowitz and his better-than-flyover-rubes followers are actually sappy enough to support an Elena CeauÈ™escu clone or that goofy, rumpled pinko from Vermont. [More]
The concept of federalism and “states' rights” is where “progressive” policies start to trip on their own inconsistencies, and that’s the door Borowitz just opened for us to walk through.

Still Sleeping with the Enemy

What do billionaires like Esprit Founder Susie Buell of California, and Sri Lankan lobbyist Imaad Zuberi of California, and media mogul Fred Eychaner of Chicago, and Donald Sussman hedgefund manager from New York and Chicago real estate mogul J.B Pritzker, and gay activist Jon Stryker of NY, and NRA and Viacom lobbyist Jeffrey Forbes and entertainment mogul Haim Saban all have in common? They all appear to be brilliant business people who have all given millions to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and to her various PACS. [More]
That means money gun owners sent in to fight "gun control" has been funneled to the Hillary campaign to undermine the RKBA of the donors. That means they were bamboozled into indirectly sending aid and comfort to the enemy.

I see Fairfax is distancing themselves now that it's all out in the open. Tell me they didn't know about the guy's sympathies -- or should have if they were being responsible stewards. Like they never were with Richard, or with Judas Bob, or with any of the countless politicians who have very publicly betrayed them -- for years.

Me, I'm wondering at what point mail fraud charges would stick.

Bringing Out the Grains of Salt Here

BREAKING: FAST AND FURIOUS WAS SECRET PROGRAM TO SHIP ARMS TO MIDDLE EAST TERRORISTS [More]
If so, no source I relied on ever made that claim.

I've actually been privy to chatter and claims in re this for several months now and have been uneasy passing them along because I have no way to verify claims, and there is another figure not named here -- but nonetheless central to discussions I've seen -- who  may have a motive that could be beneficial in re raising doubts about his incarceration.

Obviously I have no way to prove everything this report says isn't Gospel, and in no way do I wish to discourage pulling threads to see what unravels, but I remain unconvinced.

First off, I have a problem with the terminology "Fast and Furious," which was a Phoenix operation initiated as a part of the larger "Project Gunrunner." Second, relying on U.S. gun shops to do straw purchasing, then smuggling, them through cartel middlemen and shipping them to the Middle East, just doesn't seem like an Occam's Razor kind of supply model, considering how ubiquitous full-auto AKs and ready suppliers are in that part of the world.

Maybe my doubts will prove unfounded and there are explanations beyond my admittedly limited understanding. But I'll need to see more than what I see here, and what I've seen in months of emails trying to call attention to this.

UPDATE: This is why I question a need to route via Mexico.

No, not at all. It's real simple: Conduct yourself peaceably and keep and bear all the arms you want. Don't, and expect a defensive response.

Don't give capable people reason to fear and they won't respond in kind.

“What they are doing is like a backdoor amnesty or an amnesty through policy,” he added. “They can’t get everybody in the right way so they are just going to release everybody on their own recognizance pending a court date that hasn’t been set, knowing that over 85 percent of the people don’t show up for the court date.” [More]
And, of course, they've "earned the right to be citizens."  But their self-identifying as overwhelmingly Democrat and anti-gun has nothing to do with that "single issue."

Right, Grover, and every damn one of your deliberately indifferent apologists?

Benefit of the Doubt

So why the hell did Ted endorse Grover?
A few comments under my Nugent article question whether or not it's fair to criticize him because he just might not be aware of the problems with Norquist. Seeing as how the piece centers on a recall-related endorsement, for Ted to be unaware means he deliberately avoided looking at the evidence and, deliberately acts instead as a willing, rubber-stamping Fairfax stooge.

I've written several posts and articles on the guy over the years, not all of them critical and some actually in his defense, and have consistently sent the links to his Twitter account. Here's a sample and a sample and a sample and  a sample and ... I could find plenty more, and I'll also be sending the link to this post to "the TedNugent.com team" that administers the account for him.

Plus it's not the first time Nugent has lent his name and endorsement to someone who didn't deserve it, for which there was plenty of information about why.  For him not to know this stuff means he's an oblivious dolt who has no business being considered a "gun rights leader" and an NRA director. Either that or he's perfectly aware, with all that implies.

So sorry, apologist[s]. He knows.

If you want to make "Can't we all get along?" excuses for him, go right ahead. Just know that some of us recognize them for what they are -- excuses, and not very good ones at that.

The Self-Induced Irrelevancy of Edward Luce

Mr Obama’s reluctance to put US troops in Syria is understandable. But he could have tried other things. For example, taking more Syrian refugees would have given him greater moral traction to sway collective action in Europe. [More]
