And there’s the mechanism I fully expected to see. A liberal nincompoop has elevated some “preferred source” (like the SPLC, Everytown, on in thie case the GAO) to demigod status in his tiny mind, and forever after, anything published by this source is Revealed Truth, brooking no further fact-checking. This is a perfectly human tendency, but is precisely what we expect journalists to overcome in the name of professionalism. Just this guy’s continued insistence that a non-fact was a fact is damning evidence of his professional incompetence… or his willingness to lie to your face.
