Well,This Certainly Leaves ME Flabbergasted

GOP bill to ease gun silencer rules appears shelved after Las Vegas shooting - Paul Ryan says the House has no scheduled plan to vote on a bill that would ease restrictions on buying gun silencers. [More]
What a jaw-dropper! Are you as surprised as I am?

Keep America Great?

I just rejected the following comment because it is both spam and off-topic of the conversation being invited:

Still, who are these guys?  Did I just dismiss a potential ally out of hand? Let's find out together.

The Blogger profile they used was just created and tells us nothing. I checked out the website itself, and it's for a PAC that is heavy on NRA/Republican rah-rah imagery. You're invited to "Show your dedication!" to imagery of soldiers, Reagan, the flag... I can almost hear Lee Greenwood singing in the background.

Funny thing: They want to gather our information and solicit our donations, but totally avoid specifics about how they're going to accomplish their nebulous goals and how (or for whom) they're going to use the money they're asking for.

Another funny thing: For being "Keep America Great," you'd think they wouldn't have their website registered through a Canadian proxy that hides who they actually are. Plus they don't give a physical address-- if you want to "Join the Network" or "Make a Donation," you have to fill out their forms, not knowing who is on the other end or where they are in meatspace. They provide no references who have established trust. They don't even have Facebook or Twitter icons so we can see the type of stuff they think important to share.

And funny thing about the PAC: Look up the name given on the website, the KEEP AMERICA GREAT US COMMITTEE on Google and it results in an FEC hit for KEEP AMERICA GREAT PAC.  Otherwise, as you can see for yourself, there are "No results."

IF the Keep America Great PAC is the one we're looking for, we find more funny things, and by that I mean peculiar funny, not "ha-ha" funny.  Start with "No financial data." Then go to "About the Committee."

Nate Lerner? Executive Director of Democratic Coalition, creator of the Boycott Trump app and FireHannity.org? Operating out of an apartment in Hoboken? The same folks sued by a surgeon because he claimed they called him a terrorist for donating to Donald Trump's campaign?

And if it's not the PAC we're looking for, our friends with the Canadian proxy doing the registration no American will do deserve special recognition for making themselves indistinguishable from their "progressive" antithesis, especially when the basic "research" on this took me all of 10 minutes, and I'd never heard of either entity before.

So go ahead and "support the cause" if you want to.  If you find out for sure what exactly that cause is, do get back to me.

In the mean time, I'm suddenly in the mood for some classic Badfinger...

Speculation on My Part

What with the leaks we're starting to see 'n all, doesn't it make sense that if the Vegas shooter had been a "right wing" Trump supporter it would have been headline news yesterday?

Think this hasn't been done already?

What have investigators learned of motive from the reported video, and is that not information that should have been, if not released in its entirety, at least summarized? What (whose) purposes would it serve not to?

Who believes they have discovered his gambling debts but not his opinions?

Mandalay Guns?

I'm told these are leaked photos. Note I have not validated that claim, so offer them with that caution:

"15 100-rd Surefire mags"

I've got nothing to add except to note there is more discussion at what I was just told is the source.

UPDATE: And this... (Warning, purportedly dead shooter, so it's not pretty -- I've got a copy if they take it down.)

“Decades of woman beating, rapes, illegal drug use, gambling, dogfighting, and all of a sudden the NFL cares about social justice,” a poster making the rounds on the internet notes. USA Today maintains an NFL Arrest Database giving credence to the meme-maker’s wry observation. Especially when you consider the large number of internecine killings no one is taking a knee for. Pliny the Elder will be disappointed to hear that.

I don't suppose limiting the steep rise in those committing such assaults is on the table?

You had me at "New Jersey Republican." Smith's an "F" anyway, so he's just distancing himself further. And there should go Lance's "C."

That said, I'm sure the Chi-coms have a plan. I'm not sure if their economy would sustain the repercussions of executing it. They've got a lot of disparate regions and people over there they need to keep employed and pacified if they want to keep their heads.

And that said, would you be willing to go to war to protect them? That's the litmus test for being willing to send anyone else over.

Well sure.  Management needs to know just how fleeceworthy they are, and what better way to demonstrate?
